Compare linear display arm lights and spotlights by how they can be positioned against your graphic. The head shape is a useful starting point, but the specified beam, output, aiming range and installation geometry determine the relevant comparison.

Choose the lighting job first

Use catalogue specifications as selection inputs

The SL-2102-48L-DC is a linear example with a 16W rating, 1300 lm ±10% published output and a 60° beam. Its drawing gives 445 × 310 × 46.5 mm. Compare these values with the alternative lamp and the proposed mounting distance; the values alone do not specify one universal illuminated area.

Check reach and aiming clearance

A head that can aim toward a graphic still needs enough space around the mounting point. Show the panel top, adjacent profiles and any overhang in a side drawing. Include the distance from the fixture to the display face. If a lamp is installed above a narrow feature, record that position rather than using the overall stand width as its working distance.

Evaluate distribution on the real graphic

Compare samples using the intended graphic, lamp positions and venue viewing direction. Check the centre and edges for changes in appearance. A linear head should not be advertised as automatically uniform over every wall, and a spotlight should not be selected by wattage alone. The actual layout matters for both formats.

Include the fixing and power in the comparison

• Lamp model and selected head or beam version.

• Mounting accessory matched to the panel or frame.

• Colour temperature and any requested white-light CRI option.

• Supply, plug, leads and model-specific connection arrangement.

• Lamp quantity and approved positions for the display design.
