Colour Temperature and CRI for Exhibition Display Lighting
Specify exhibition lighting colour temperature and CRI as separate requirements. Colour temperature describes the warm-to-cool appearance of white light. CRI describes colour rendering relative to a reference. US specifications commonly use the spellings “color temperature” and “color rendering index”; the same CCT and CRI requirements apply. Brightness and beam pattern are separate selection factors.
For technical background on these metrics, see the US Department of Energy’s LED lighting overview.
Describe the display goal before selecting white light
Consider the printed graphic, product materials and surrounding venue light. Warm, neutral and cool white can create different appearances on the same display. For an exhibition programme that travels between venues, evaluate the intended graphic under the selected lamp instead of assuming the venue conditions will remain identical.
Use the actual Kelvin option in the order
“White” is an incomplete purchasing specification. Record the Kelvin value or range available on the chosen model. For example, the SL-2102-48L-DC linear light lists three colour options within 3000K–6500K. Confirm the specific option with the quotation rather than treating that range as proof of continuous adjustment.
| Requirement | What the buyer should record |
|---|
| Colour temperature | Available Kelvin value or range for the exact lamp version |
| Colour rendering | Required CRI specification; CRI 90+ can be requested for white LED orders |
| Visual sample | Lamp tested with the actual graphic or displayed products |
| Repeat supply | The approved model, colour option and electrical configuration |
Request CRI 90+ where colour rendering matters
CRI 90+ is available as an order option for white LED configurations. State it alongside the required colour temperature so the selected model, price and specification can be confirmed. Keep this requirement in the sample request and the bulk order record. RGB products require their own colour and control specification; a white-light CRI option should not be assigned to them automatically.
A useful sample comparison
Use the same graphic, product and viewing position for each sample.
Keep the mounting distance and aiming arrangement comparable.
Record the model and colour option for each test.
Check the appearance of important brand colours and product surfaces.
Approve the configuration you intend to reorder.
Browse LED display arm lights and white LED lightbox modules for model-specific selection details.
Specify the colour for your lighting order
Send the lamp or module reference, colour temperature, CRI requirement and quantity. Add a photo of the intended display when it helps explain the appearance you need.
